Sea Breeze. We play this regularly live. It captures the distant soul that I really was back in those days. The first one. Copyright 1973 , Jay Tracy. Words and music by Jay Tracy. Sea Breeze
Learning To Breathe. The latest, and highly personal. Captured exactly what I was going for here. Every once in a while as a writer, you nail the subject spot on. But in the end, it really is not about you, it is about the passion for the subject for which you write. Learning To Breathe is clearly the best I have ever written. The reason is that it is so personal, the pain that I feel in this song is realized everyday, but I am not the one who feels the pain. The person this is written for may never understand or even hear this song, she does not endorse or like the fact that I am so into music. But she, and they, do not realize, music is not my ego, it is my soul.I communicate through music to pinch hit for the shitty communicator I am in life. This is for my lovely, competent, and beautiful daughter. I never was able to write about the joys of parent hood when you were growing up. I was far too much self centered, and for that, I apologize. But it took a life changing event in her life to truly communicate, the love I have for her. Recording coming soon, as soon as I can play this with out too much emotion. Copyright 2008, Jay Tracy. Words and music by Jay Tracy Learning To Breathe
If Momma’s Not Happy…. well I think you can fill in the rest. Argueably one of my most recognizable songs title wise. Tongue and cheek all the way, the chicks could be really offended, but if you really listen closely and pay attention to the lyrics, it is a slame on guys as much as chicks. We now play this in regular rotation. This is for you, Sherri! If Momma’s Not Happy… Copyright 2006, Jay Tracy. All rights reserved
Livin On A Broken Promise. OK. I am far from country. But what better way to try to extend the writing skills than trying to attempt a country song. The result? Pretty much country, yes, more pop, yes, but clearly, the most commercial appealing song I have ever written. A regular in the r.g. sets. Hope to soon record this for this site. It will be worth the wait Livin On A Broken Promise Copyright 1998, Jay Tracy. All rights reserved.
