Redd Granite. The pseudo group formed from an incorrect advertisement placed in the Happenings Magazine, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  Long story. But just know, that Redd Granite is a group composed of Dave Barnes and Jay Tracy in association with the Dazzling Weasel Faces (DFW). DFW is Dave’s main group and has played live for over 15 years. They play live in many Central Texas bars and resturaunts. Their play list is extensive focusing on 60′s and 70′s music that easily adapts to an accoustical environment. I join them when I can, as the three of us together live have a great chemistry. Check them out. A great experience. Redd Granite, however, is the writing arm, and sometimes (intended) live performance arm….although the live performance has only happened once or twice.  Schedules are hell when you claim to be a semi-responsible person. To go back to the formation of the name, DFW took their world tour in 2008 ending up at a bar named “Cooler Near The Lake” in Wisconsin.  Great name. Popular bar.  When the owner went to secure advertising, she was told by my brother that the name of the group was Red Granite.  He had come up with this name as he delivers prisoners to a small town in central Wisconsin by the same name. Not knowing the group playing was really DWF…she put in the ad as Red Granite. She also, when told of the communication glitch, she also took out an ad for DWF.  Thanks Jody.  Love ya! So I became Redd, and the spinoff was created. Really we go back to 1974 when Dave and I performed with another college talent, Kevin Hall….we were then called Decades (after a discotec in Wisconsin, the irony is that I hated discos and the music).  We played in rather large venues and crowds within three months…all of us writers and commonly bonded. Dave has always been a writing partner over the years, and we had played under the Decades tag for several years post his college years…in front of crowds up to 1500…..nerve racking. So it is only natural that Dave and I form this group, in association with DWF to provide an outlet for our original music.

They Call Me Redd.....

Dedicated to the original music my band mates and I have written, this will serve as an outlet to get these heard to anyone who cares. There will be some great music.  We will also capture live events as they happen, with photo galleries and reviews.

There is a blog/discussion page under “Discussions.” This page will contain updates, blogs, information, performance notes, and quite a few concert reviews since I see a lot over the year. Do not confuse my musical tastes in concerts with what you hear on this site under the Original Music page……I am a rocker first and foremost, its just that the music I have written largely is not….more “Coffeehouse” style, which I might add is very popular these days.  So even though this front page does not change that often, check the Discussion page, as the content will change regularly

Should be entertaining. This group is related to the Dazzling Weasel Faces, www.dazzlingweaselfaces.com. They are a Central Texas based accoustic group who have been playing together for over 15 years live in bars and resturaunts in the Austin, Dallas, Waco, and surrounding areas.

There will be updates to this site in both performance data and original music as we record new songs…..at decent studios.  Check back often. Updates will be regular as Redd Granite and Dazzling Weasel Faces perform.
